After a break in 2020 due to the pandemic, we were finally able to celebrate a long-awaited 5th anniversary. Participation restrictions due to covid-19 meant that 500 foreign-born job seekers met 20 recruiting companies. Petter Stordalen (Owner and founder, Nordic Choice Hotel), Azita Shariati (CEO, Anicura), Zinat Pirzadeh (comedian and author) and others participated on stage. Among the more than 300 listeners, the business community from Västra Götaland was mainly represented.

A private employment agency that creates job opportunities!
EnRival puts people to work and businesses in motion. We have done that since the start in 2005. We help you who are outside the labor market to get there. At the same time, we make sure that you, as a business customer, get the skills you need to meet your needs.

Jobbsprånget is Sweden's largest internship program for newly arrived graduates. Since 2016, we have matched the skills of newly arrived graduates with the skill needs of employers around the country. The program is four months long and is aimed at graduates with a degree in IT, engineering, architecture, economics, HR or natural sciences. The job boom is financed by the government via the Tillväxverket and Marianne & Marcus Wallenberg stiftelsen.

Help Ukraine in Gothenburg - is an aid organisation with a heart of gold and a passion for making a difference. Our roots go back to 24 February 2022, when we were founded in response to Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Today, HUG is driven by compassion and community and supported by the people of Gothenburg. We run three centres here in Gothenburg that help thousands of refugees find a place in Swedish society. We work actively with inclusive labour market, job matching, integration and psychosocial support and community.

The mission of #CareConnectWithUkraine is to provide support and assistance to Ukrainians who have fled the war and are aged 16 to 64. We aim to build bridges between businesses and Ukrainians, offering guidance on labour market opportunities, training and a variety of activities. We are an integral part of the 'Empower UA' project, funded by the Swedish ESF Council and led by Help Ukraine Göteborg.

Bräckegymnasiet, together with BYN region Väst, validates professionals in the construction sector in the Gothenburg area. Through validation, you can reach all the way to a professional certificate and a secure future. We also have a large network of companies in the region that are in need of skilled professionals.

Samjobb works with the Swedish Public Employment Service's Rusta och Matcha service, with the task of guiding unemployed people into work or study. We also provide organisations and companies with the skills they need.

Medborgarskolan is one of Sweden's ten study associations. We are a non-profit organisation with no vested interests. This means that we always have our participants' best interests at heart. We offer meeting places where people can meet, create, share and learn. Our activities are non-partisan and non-religious. With popular education, commissioned training programmes and school activities, we engage many people throughout the country - from north to south. Medborgarskolan rests on a strong, humanistic foundation consisting of four core values: The individual at the centre, Development in collaboration, Mutual respect and the intrinsic value of knowledge.

We were founded in 2018 with a vision to help people get to work and create a meaningful existence. The road to get there looks different but with our experience, local anchoring and collaborations with renowned partners, we make sure to offer guidance and effective measures throughout the process so that our candidates can reach their full potential. Sometimes this means language training, komvuk, further studies or matching with more specific professions. But regardless of the measure, we make sure to find the most efficient way to employment. Because we know that both skills-enhancing studies and a lasting job contribute to reducing exclusion and creating value for the individual and the business.

Support Group started as an initiative in Sweden's largest asylum camp in 2014 and two years later it became an officially registered European organisation. Support Group Network's target group is asylum seekers, refugees, immigrants and migrants, new arrivals. SGN cooperates with local communities, municipalities, associations, NGOs, groups and individual volunteers. SGN is a partner in the project Helhetslyftet which offers interventions for third country nationals to strengthen language development in Swedish, prepare for entry into the labour market and increase the sense of participation in society.

Öppet Hus is a non-profit organisation for diversity that is politically and religiously independent. For more than 14 years, we have brought together young adults with a foreign background, the majority of whom have been in Sweden for a relatively short time, with a personal mentor in working life. It is through contacts and networks that people often get a job in their industry. We focus on matching people based on professional orientation, education and future career to get the ultimate result where our mentees get a committed interlocutor, who can become a valuable reference and door opener to the labour market. We have close contact with the business community and can bring a lot of international expertise to companies. We operate in the Gothenburg area. Öppet Hus offers free professional mentoring programmes and meeting places for broadening networks, job opportunities, inspiration and personal development. The mentoring programmes last one year and start throughout the year.

Skyddsvärnet Göteborg runs, among other things, halfway houses for clients of the Prison Service, an apartment department with support and habilitation, sheltered accommodation for vulnerable women, accommodation for Ukrainian refugees, two youth centres and a shelter bus that works to create security in the city during weekend nights. We also have a social medicine clinic with a psychologist, nurse and psychiatrist, as well as an activity on Ringön where we offer job training and a social community specialising in boats and recycling, which we will talk about at Opportunity Day.
We are passionate about improving the match between employers and jobseekers, and through our services we reduce unemployment in Sweden and ensure the right person in the right place: Through our social media channels such as Facebook, Instagram and TikTok, we provide tips, inspiration and interact with our followers. Through our recruitment services, we seek specific competences for companies in need of staff. As a matching service provider, we equip and match job seekers in their journey towards jobs or education. We also have a wide network of contacts with local and national employers across a range of sectors, making it easier for us to match you with the right employer.

Re:Shift is a transition and training company that uses knowledge, business contacts and local commitment to help its participants and clients achieve their goals. We work with new arrivals in Sweden, people who have been outside the labour market for a long time, but also those who want to change careers in mid-life. Their needs are different, and so are our solutions. Through Re:Shift's professional and experienced counselling, we help with finding and applying for jobs, training or internships, individual development meetings and seminars.

Opportunity Day started in 2016 and works to create a more inclusive labour market. With our work, we want to motivate and make it easier for companies to recruit inclusively. Our work is driven by opinion-forming - spreading good examples, research and "know how" and by creating meeting places and building new networks. The Opportunity Community network is a springboard for organisations that want to increase their competitiveness through greater inclusion and more perspectives around the table. Throughout the year, we organise knowledge seminars, workshops and mingle meetings with the aim of giving participants access to both knowledge and new contacts.

Speakers from Opportunity Day Göteborg 2022

Serneke operates in a hitherto male-dominated industry. Therefore, issues of diversity and inclusion are in focus in the company's development work to attract the next generation of community builders. Listen to Ola Serneke (Founder and CEO) tell us more about how Serneke, since its inception, has had a fundamental ambition to contribute to the positive development of society, and how it takes shape in daily operations.

Muna Idow, CEO and Founder of Mermaid Swim School, was born in Somalia and grew up in several places in Africa. She came to Sweden and Gothenburg six years ago. During her school years, she started the JA company Mermaid Swim School, for which she was awarded the Compass Rose. As a leader, Muna is brave and works to break the norm that Muslim women are not usually seen as leaders. "I am a norm breaker and community builder entrepreneur who wants to contribute to a more just society and world" says Muna herself about her leadership.

Lead change - and get your people on board.

Helena Tronner, Deputy CEO of Knowit Insight Accelerate, has worked with gender equality and diversity issues since 2006 in many different organisations and can contribute with wise insights, good and bad examples from reality and guidance on how to succeed with your inclusion work. Helena is the initiator of Knowit's gender and diversity programme and has driven the work that has taken Knowit from being on Allbright's red list to winning the award as Sweden's most equal listed company. She also lectures in gender equality and diversity at Stockholm University.

Hear from Helena;
- Why it is crucial for organisations to work on diversity and inclusion
- Why most organisations fail with their initiatives
- Why leadership is crucial to creating an inclusive culture

What are skills in 2022?
Rudolph Anthony

The arrival of digitalisation in the Swedish labour market is long overdue. The pace of change is rapid and both businesses and politicians need to be proactive to keep up. This also applies to workers, who are taking on more and more personal responsibility. The better we understand the world, the smarter we can act, and if we have the same worldview, it is easier to agree on what needs to be done.

We look at the future of the labour market - what skills will be in demand and what jobs will be transformed? What cultural values and skills will be valued? Are upper secondary education and higher education institutions keeping up with the changes? Will there be 'easy jobs' in the future? And does the concept of skills need to be redefined?
A panel discussion with:

Åsa Vikner,
RISE and Gabriel Ghavami,
GoMo Grup.
Moderated by Rudolf Antoni, Confederation of Swedish Enterprise

Today she is a lecturer, moderator and facilitator. She lectures on leading in change and the art of creating dialogue. What are skills in 2022?
Gabriel Ghavami

Jesper Strömbäck, Professor of Journalism and Political Communication at the University of Gothenburg, is one of Sweden's leading media researchers. His research focuses on the media's coverage of politics and society, the changing media landscape and its significance, political opinion formation and knowledge resistance. "A society where people feel included is a society that utilises people's resources, and thus grows and develops. This applies not least to the labour market."

From man to man!
Saraclaes Schmidt

Listen to an entertaining and interactive inspirational lecture on the norms and values that govern our lives and prevent us from thinking logically. Most people recognise that diversity and dissent are positive, empowering and even vital to a vibrant society. Yet we allow fear, inherited norms and old ways of thinking to rule our lives. Who programmes your brain and who decides what you should think and feel? The lecture is a mix of humour and seriousness, fact and fiction, inspiration and experience, with the primary aim of updating and broadening our way of thinking. And to dare to reflect on ourselves and others - without judgement.

People, organisations and businesses on the move release great forces. If we can also coordinate the movement forward, we will have a situation where people, city and companies grow in interaction with each other. The Labour Market and Adult Education Administration is currently working to secure skills at various levels for new establishments and for staff already employed, while at the same time creating space for people who are currently outside the labour market. This creates a situation where everyone wins and where everyone can contribute.

Andreas is the Administrative Director of Labour Market and Adult Education at the City of Gothenburg.

In Framtiden's work to develop the city's particularly vulnerable areas, opportunities for self-sufficiency are crucial. In these areas, there are people with great resources and abilities who have difficulty entering the labour market. Within the Framtiden Group, we are prepared to make great efforts to get more people into work. And as a large employer, we must be inclusive and see diversity as a prerequisite for successful business.

Overcoming our prejudiced minds.
Mina Dennert

We all have blind spots, prejudices and unconscious preferences, and we may act in a racist way even though we don't want to. Even if we are anti-racist. Through personal and experienced examples, Mina shows how the big picture is connected to the interpersonal. How structures affect the individual. What can we do to make our unconscious behaviours visible, how can we avoid acting unintentionally exclusionary and what can we do when it has already happened? Together, let's outsmart our prejudiced brains!

Mina Dennert is a journalist, author and founder of I Am Here International with Swedish #jagärhär, which has inspired hundreds of thousands of people to take action for democratic and inclusive societies using simple and effective methods. She has received numerous awards and honours for her work, including the Anna Lindh Prize.

A model for skills transition
Helena Erlingsjö

Of all Lidl's employees in Sweden, around 50 % are of foreign origin. Lidl is also part of a global business that is present in 32 countries. Working with diversity and inclusion is therefore a matter of course and is not a project, but part of daily operations. We are also facing a challenging time where skills are in short supply. This makes it even more important for us as a company to utilise all the skills on the market. Investing in inclusion through our collaboration with the City of Gothenburg/Opportunity Day, where together we will equip and match those who are currently outside the labour market, benefits not only us as a company, but also society at large and individuals. It is fully in line with our focus on sustainability in general and inclusion specifically, the future has many opportunities!

Helena Erlingsjö is CHRO at Lidl Sweden.

Sofia Westergaard, HR Specialist/Competence Management, Renova

What are skills in 2022?
Mr Oskar Avedal

Oskar Avedal works with skills supply issues at the West Sweden Chamber of Commerce and is the project manager for Yrkestrainee, the Chamber of Commerce's initiative for apprenticeships in adult education.

A model for skills transition
Mr Anders Johansson

Skills supply is the number one challenge for many companies, both in the short and long term. At the same time, hundreds of thousands of people are out of work. But without the right skills, they will never have the opportunity to enter the labour market. The solution is (apprenticeship) training tailored to the needs of business. It offers a way into the labour market for those who are excluded, but is also a model for skills transition. To meet current and future skills needs, we need both new labour and the opportunity for those who already have a job to develop their skills.

Welcome to listen to a panel discussion on skills transition and reducing the step into the labour market.
Participants Helena Erlingsjö, Lidl Sweden, Oskar Avedal, West Sweden Chamber of Commerce, Sofia Westergaard, Renova and Anders Johansson, Education Strategist, Labour Market and Adult Education.
